McCANN
WINS JELAJAH MALAYSIA 2010 AS LE TUA GRAB TEAM TITLE
KUALA LUMPUR (1 May 2010): David McCann of the Giant Asia
racing team kept his yellow jersey intact at the end of the
long and arduous 195.6km Stage Five to win the individual
crown of the Jelajah Malaysia 2010 as Le Tua Cycling team
took the overall team title.
The
Irishman, who did not have a fantastic outing at the Le Tour
de Langkawi 2010 earlier in the year, bounced back with the
individual crown at the Tour de Taiwan last month and then
the Melaka Chief Minister’s Cup last week.
And in
Jelajah Malaysia with the peloton being punished to a total
ride of over 800km in just five days, McCann once again emerged
victorious where his pivotal run on the second day of the
race made sure that he emerged at the top of the standings
with some 20seconds to spare over nearest challenger Japan’s
Takumi Beppu of the Aisan Racing team. MORE

SUHARDI
SMASHES INTO SUNGAI PETANI AS McCANN MAINTAIN YELLOW IN PENULTIMATE
STAGE
KUALA
LUMPUR (30 April 2010): Wilayah Persekutuan’s Suhardi
Hassan staged a fabulous five-man breakaway early at the start
to take Stage Four of the Jelajah Malaysia 2010 as David McCann
of the Giant Asia Racing team made the race leader yellow jersey
all but his at the end of the ride into Sungai Petani.
The
short 93.1km route from Juru Autocity in Pulau Pinang to Sungai
Petani in Kedah was the penultimate stage of the Jelajah Malaysia
2010 this year where McCann played his cards well to avoid
trouble.
Suhardi
said that following the disappointment on the second day of
the race when they allowed the peloton to fight back following
Stage One when ATM’s Mohd Shahrul Mat Amin led a fabulous
Malaysian finish, there was pressure on the Malaysian riders
to deliver. MORE
